Let’s create a marketing funnel for your business that will be a catalyst in leading you to success. It is a step by step approach that will help you understand and apply the digital marketing techniques properly. The funnel consists of 4 steps:

1. Prepare the Weapons

The first and the most important part of this marketing funnel is Content. Just like before going to a war you should be ready with your weapons, before going out in the market you should prepare some quality content. 

The content can be in any form including blogs, videos, podcasts, infographics, e-books, etc. It should just be relevant for your audience and add value to their lives. Think about what your target audience really needs and you can create small content pieces around that. This can even be a small version of your product/service. 

For example: If your product is a course on Cryptocurrency Trading, you can write an e-book on ‘The 5 mistakes most Beginners make in Crypto Trading’ or record a short course on ‘Getting Started with Crypto Trading’. 

Now, this weapon of yours is going to do wonders for you!

We are going to use this piece of content as a Lead Magnet to get your potential customers into your marketing funnel. 

Once you have this lead magnet ready, create a quick landing page describing about the piece of content. Give an option for anyone to download the lead magnet by filling in their Name and E-Mail Address. 

You can also ask for Phone Numbers if the content is very valuable. The entire point is that people will not share their phone numbers easily and this will prevent them from ever filling in the details. In the end, something is better than nothing.

The agenda here is to collect leads (contact details) of your potential customers in exchange for the lead magnet (piece of content) you have created. Just remember that the content should be valuable for the audience, or they will not give in the details.

2. Get to the Target

Once you have the weapons (lead magnet and landing page) ready, it’s time to go to the war. But even if you have the best weapons in the world, they would be worthless if you can’t find your enemy (target). 

You need to get to your target audience and let them know about the content you are offering.

Only after they know about it, they can make a choice about opting in for your content or not.

So, how do I do it?

But didn’t you said that Ads are dead?

Yogesh: Wait, I never said that!

If you directly use ads to bring sales to your product/service, you will face a lot of competition and not very good results. Also, people have learned to ignore such sales ads.

But, when you are using ads in this funnel, they are irreplaceable and very crucial for your success.

You can run paid ads on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Google, Youtube, and many others. These platforms offer a detailed targeting mechanism wherein you can show your ads to only the people that match your requirements.

You can target people basis their location, age, interests, industry, pages they follow, websites they visit, and a lot of other metrics. You can even retarget people who have visited your website in a specific period or performed a particular action on your website like add to cart. 

You can choose what ads to show to whom and at what time. And you can track the performance of your ads in real-time. Now, these ads can be Text Ads (Google Search Ads), Display Ads (Instagram Ads), or Video Ads (Youtube Ads).

Paid ads will bring you new leads when the ads are shown to a new set of audience and will also generate sales when the ads are shown to the people who are already your leads. And you can manage each and every step of the process efficiently.

If you have the right lead magnet, audience targeting, and strategy, paid ads work like a magic wand bringing you multiple folds ROI (Return on Investment).

3. Build Trust 

Once you get your potential customers in the funnel by taking their contact details, it is time to nurture them and build trust.

Trust is a very powerful tool, that when used rightfully can do wonders. 

It is not easy to win someone’s trust if you are greedy and always keep on asking something (to buy your product).

Trust is built when two entities communicate and get to know each other. Trust is built when you start giving them value without asking anything in return. Basically, you are preparing them for a natural sale.

Set up an automated sequence of emails that your leads will get, once they download your lead magnet. In these emails, share links to your blogs, details about your company, ask them about themselves, send them feedbacks from other people, and don’t try to sell anything at all. 

After a certain level of trust is built, your leads are warm and finally, it’s time for the sales to happen automatically.

Remember that the amount of trust needed to build depends on a lot of factors like the pricing of your product/service, the importance of your offering in their life, the quality and uniqueness of your offering, etc.

4. Win the War

This is the final step of the funnel: Sales.

It’s time to end the war by claiming the victory for which we waited patiently for so long. Once your prospects start trusting you, it will be very easy to get them to purchase your product/service without pushing them to do it.

Just share a good sales page/video or do a sales webinar with your warm leads. You will observe a magical conversion rate effortlessly. 

People think that a good salesman is someone who can force anyone to buy, but actually, a good salesman is someone who plots the entire thing in a way that the sales happen naturally without the customer realizing that they are being sold to.

You just have to get the sales pitch ready and give an offer the prospects cannot deny. Make them feel that they are getting a lot more than what they are paying for. Never use this trust to do any wrong things. And always over-deliver than what you have promised.
